Mine is under the shelf?behind the KWS-1 PS so kinda hard to get to and see,
but from a short distance, with a flashlight, it appears to be a light to
medium gray, fine wrinkle finish, almost like a gritty sand. Don't ever
recall painting it so it should be the original color, although I'm sure it
has altered in color somewhat over the years. Similar in color to the case
on my Viking Valiant II and? the Invader 2000 RF deck case. Don't think the
Invader series (200/2000) ever came in maroon, think they were all later in
the Ranger II / Valiant II timeframe which were gray.

I guess no one knows what the original color of an Invader 2000 power
supply cover was.

Hi Carl,
If you'd like, I can e-mail you a photograph of the painted logo on the
front panel of the rig---plainly says "CC" on it, along the top...and the
rig itself is identified with a military moniker in the manual.
** Didnt I already say a contract was probably issued..... and those
generally have a military style manual and a military designation. Changing
the panel is as simple as a new silk screen since somebody was paying for
it.
I just think the "CC" was the Canadian military version of the CDC which, if
I understand correctly, was ID'ed by a simple sticker affixed to the LH side
of the front panel...?
** Correct, it was not a new model as in different features as in that ER
article. Here Im assuming it had PTT and the audio limiter installed as in
the CDC? What did the Canadian military do with it or were they in charge of
administering the CD?
The top of my panel says "Johnson Viking II - CDC" with the little round CD
decal on the left but Ive seen several without that; maybe removed later,
and others with a larger decal.

I guess it can be hard for one to understand the existance of something, as
you say, if one has never seen said something before...! : >)

Paul,
Thanks for the report. The consensuses seems to be that the PS was the
same slightly wrinkled gray as the RF deck. I am taking my case to a
powder coater to have it painted in a wrinkled gray finish and will take
the PS cover too. I have a total of 4 Invaders to be painted. Two
200's and two 2000's. I am keeping one 2000 and will be selling the
rest after finishing the painting and electrical modifications.

I have 2 Valiant transmitters here with shorted, or leaky caps in the PI
network. These are in the coupling circuit. The 300 mmf cap is the worst and
the octagon 3 section not much better.
I have tried ceramic 2KV and also snubber caps all of which do not last very
long. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can find the 4
different caps to replace these in at least 2 units and there is another one
at another location with strange loading at times. Any suggestions sure will
be appreciated.
Thanks

I would start at RF Parts and look at the doorknobs.
