The formula for the Johnson maroon paint can be found in the article at

I prefer acrylic paint, but other types of paint can be used and the same formula applies.

You can install a fuse holder inside the cabinet. If you do blow a fuse then it will take removing the unit from the cabinet to replace the fuse. However, doing so will not require any holes on the external surfaces. Radio Shack does sell a fuse holder that works very well for this application.

I have a functional Johnson Navigator CW transmitter which I'd like to make some improvements to.

First and simplest, the cabinet is badly scratched and needs repainted. I know this has been discussed before, but I've lost record of what paint to use. What is recommended?

Second, I'd  like to get rid of the dangerous 2-fuse power plug. This requires putting a fuse holder on the back panel, and the only place I see for it there is in place of the antenna relay power jack (ehich I don't need). Even that is uncomfortably close to the 6146 socket. Any ideas?
