Yep, not to mention trying to fix it later if the glass gets broken.
Cleaning off the glue to allow a new piece to slide it could
be....interesting?
Most all meters I've worked on with this problem had some kind of a
retaining ring inside pressing the glass into place from behind. Over
time the glass gets bumped or someone decides to clean the hell out of
it and ends up pushing this back. After removal of the meter,
disassembly, and a good cleaning, just push the ring back into place
tightly from the rear. Seal it in place with some clear fingernail
polish around the back edge when the XYL isn't looking. That little
brush applicator works prefectly for this.
Should also work fine for meters missing or otherwise not having the
glass retaining ring inside. Much easier to remove later. A little
dab'll do ya.
