Hi Cal,
I wish I had an easy fix for you, but I have encountered this a couple of
times and it's a booger bear. The first time I replaced only the wafer and
that was a challenge due to the limited working space. The second time I
replaced the entire switch and I don't need to tell you how difficult it is
to get to some of those connections from underneath. All in all, it's just
time consuming.
Good luck.

All:
I put the finishing touches on my Ranger 2 resto. I
attempted to use a Dow Key 115 VAC T/R relay but was
unable to key the unit.
After taking part of the R2 down, I found that SW4A
has burnt contacts. This is no surprise since this is
a design problem with the Ranger series. However, this
is the first time I've seen a Ranger with the mode
switch completly eroded when you switch to phone or
CW.
Does anyone have an easy fix? I been looking at
replacing the wafer from a junker Ranger. Been
thinking about using an RF sense relay to do the
keying. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
Cal, N6KYR/8
