Make sure that you get 6146, 6146A / 8298, or 6293
tubes for the final.  Most Valiants are not "happy"
with the 6146B / 8298A or the 6146W with a code date
of after 1963.  There is a definite difference in the
6146B series from the earlier versions of the the 6146
family.

appeared in Electric Radio a while back (and has been
reprinted in several other publicaitons) go to either
