[Johnson] Ranger Problem

First make sure your grid drive is right as the clamp tube will not 
operate properly if it is not.

Check that the clamp tube is set up properly. I think the ranger has 
one. If it's bias is set right on the edge it could give you the plate 
current properties that you see.

You could try removing the clamp tube and see what the plate current 
does. Not sure if they use it to cut the tube off on standby or just as 
protection for loss of drive.


Next check that the meter shunt has not changed resistance.
Best is to put another amp meter in series with the shunt or in the 
plate voltage lead. If you put it in the plate circuit lead it will read 
a little different as I think they actually measure cathode current in 
the meter circuit.
