[Johnson] Chirp on my Valiant

Just getting on with my "new" Valiant with a "new" Johnson TR Switch.
Last report on 40 cw was some chirp on the signal
OM suggested that I do a good cleaning of the switches (which I intend to do)
Any other suggestions?
Also is there any chance that the TR Switch could add a chirp to the signal?
  I doubt it and will try it with it in then out of the circuit, but just thought I would ask.
