Avery & all:
Let me clarify. Hammarlund made a Fixed Frequency Crystal Oscillator
Field Installation Kit, Part # 9211-00-00002 and was designed to work
with the HQ-145, -170 and -180 series receivers. His request was for a
170AX and there was no production of a 170AX that I can find. And from
the Field Installation kits that I remember seeing years ago, there was
no label included that you affixed to the receiver to identify a new
"add-on"/suffix. I doubt you're going to find a receiver out there
labeled HQ-170AX. The only production variations from a list that came
from Hammarlund, that made it to the consumer market from the factory,
were 170, 170C, 170A, 170AC, 170A-VHF, and 170AC-VHF. Did some 170's slip
out with the fixed frequency crystal oscillator in place of the clock
already installed; maybe, but Hammarlund never provided any ordering code
for retail stores to use to get this variation. However, the 180AX and
180XE were orderable codes.

ps I'm not sure we're talking about this on the Johnson reflector.
