Pete's right according to my bible, Fred Osterman's "Shortwave Receivers 
Past and Present." The HQ-180A, on the other hand, did come in an AX 
version but not VHF, says Fred. I guess Hammarlund's reasoning was that 
hams would be more likely to want VHF capabilities and SWLs would want the 
ability to switch to a fixed frequency and wouldn't care as much about VHF.
