I'll give you $300 dollars to take this goddam Valiant from me, and as a
special Bonus: I'll personally deliver it anywhere in the continental US,
Mexico, and Canada. May take me a few days to get to you - depends on the
weather. Will consider throwing in the rest of my Boatanchor gear, maybe
even the antenna. Hell, I might even leave you my car all nicely packed,
and hitchhike back.

Boy do I hate electronics right now....

So - I get 'er all recapped, twice, over a hundred dollers in fine
transmitting micas, orange drops, hi-rel electrolytics - it's loading well
and stably, I got a little compressor/limiter in the mic, it's modulating
nicely - I put it all back together, cable it up, tunes up fine on all
bands on the load - figure I'll call CQ on 3.880 - can't make the VFO
change freqs - yes, you guessed it, the %*^#@!%& coupling INSIDE the VFO
can has begun to slip.... once in a while it'll nudge the tuning, but
mostly the dial and shaft turn, the VFO cap does not - I got one side off
it, hellzbellz you can't even SEE the damn coupling....

Now that the inside of my shack is several shades bluer than it used to
be - she's back on the bench. I oughta just leave the damn thing there,
operate that way.

OKAY:

My question is - what's the easiest and least
invasive/alignment-disturbing way to remedy this lovely situation - or is
it "front panel off, disassemble VFO, tighten one set-screw 1/8 turn,
reassemble VFO, reassemble front panel, completely re-align -

Did I mention I am currently experiencing Hostile Feelings towards
heavy old expensive electronic stuff??

   Cheerz (and %*^&%#$!!!!!!)

PS: For the Literal: The first paragraph is Sarcasm.... but you knew that.
