Hi John,

Nobody gave you an answer, so here goes. Both the Ranger I and
Valiant I covered the 11 meter HAM band. These transmitters were
designed and manufactured BEFORE the 11 meter ham band was turned into the
CB band. Around 1959 (I don't remember the exact date)
the 11 meter band was changed to the CB band and so the design of the
ranger I and Valinat I was changed to reflect that. Johnson added the
6 meter band to both of these rigs and changed their names to the Ranger II
and the Valiant II. The circuitry was basically the same except for the
doubler circuitry that was added to provide the 6 meter band. That
statement is based on the LATE ranger I and Valiant I circuits. The Ranger
I changed
a total of three times and the Valiant twice, I believe. The basic RF
output and AF amp and Modulator circuits were the same. The keying, bias
and some of the tube complement changed from one to the next. Paint
schemes were totally different though. VFO's were the same
throughout. All of the Rangers and Valiants were 160 capable from
beginning to end. Physical sizes and weights were the same as well. Hope
this helps.

Thanks!!
