[Johnson] Fuses in primary of power supply

Gentlemen: Sorry, but I made a mistake in my last post. The VALIANT
transmitter has two 6 ampere fuses in each leg of the ac line cord and one
1.5 ampere fuse in the primary of the modulator power supply. That single 1.5
ampere fuse is in series with one of the 6 ampere primary fuses. The Viking
II uses a single fuse in the primary of the power supply. Sorry for the
confusion. - Sherrill W. k4own.

Cal. Something is wrong somewhere? Are you 100% sure the original design of
the Ranger specified two different size fuses or did someone install a
different fuse? If your ranger transmitter has two different size fuses, I
suspect that is a mistake? If you are absolutely sure the original Johnson
schematic or parts list shows two different size fuses, I would suspect that
to be an error in the manual. My Valiant II manual shows ONE fuse in the
power transformer primary. My Valiant manual shows two primary fuses to
protect both power supplies and both are 6 ampere fuses. There is also an
additional single 1.5 ampere fuse in the primary of the power supply for the
modulator. This 1.5 ampere fuse is in series with one of the 6 ampere dual
main fuses. The best thing to do is install a three wire polarized cord and
fuse the hot(black) lead to the main power switch. It is dangerous practice
to fuse the neutral(white)lead.- 73- Sherrill W. k4own.

Can anyone tell me why EFJ would use two different value fuses in their
Ranger transmitters? Let me know and thanks. Cal, n6KYR
