[Johnson] Ranger relay socket

Replacing the crystal socket (I have a Valiant II that uses that method for
driving the relay) with tip jacks may be the easiest and most effective
method for fixing this. I tend to prefer banana jacks over tip jacks, but
to each his own. The only other approach I can think of that doesn't leave
something hanging out the back is a Molex connector or similar, or a MIL
circular connector. I know that keeping everything original is a nice thing
to do, but this is one area where I'd trade original condition for safety in
a heartbeat.

I already removed the dual-fuse plug and replaced it with a real 3-wire
power cord and plug, and a chassis-mounted fuseholder tucked in behind one
of the transformers mounted on the rear panel. It turns out there's a small
gap behind one of the transformer end bells that is sufficiently deep to
stick a fuseholder in.

I'm getting ready to crack the Valiant open to chase down a problem in the
VFO and I think I'll check out the tip jack / banana jack approach for the
relay while I'm in there.

Nice suggestion!
