[Johnson] Ranger relay socket

The last line says it all...those porcelain sockets are even more
dangerous than the line cord plug. I chop those dang things out of there
and use a chassis punch for a round, 2 pin Jones connector that I mount
with pop rivets.

Yes it is the case.

There are many methods:

1) (perhaps the best) take apart a junk HC-6 crystal and make it into a 
connector.  (One guy was selling these a while ago.)

2) Stuff whatever wire you can into the socket and hope for the best.

3) (If you are lucky) use the correct original now unobtainium plugs

4) Change the thing out for a reasonable connector that is safe and
convenient.
