I've heard rumors that there were occasional Desk KW's made as late at =
1963. I might have heard this from my buddy Ed K0BKA or the guy I =
bought my desk option from. =20
Since we're on the subject of the awesome Desk KW, my desk option is =
disassembled at the moment. It needs to be repainted as it was =
subjected to a new paint job, brown/gold, by Steelcase in the Johnson =
factory when they (Steelcase) came in and modernized the old furniture =
with the new colors. Or at least thats how the story was told to me by =
the desk seller. After it was sold off, some 12 year old kid loaded 'er =
up with stickers :))) I'm thinking I'll have to have the desk bead =
blasted, primed, then painted. ALso need new lineolum. Not sure where =
to have the desk painted. I checked with a couple of auto body places =
and if they returned my call, it was at least $800. I also checked with =
a nostalgic desk company who professionally restores old metal desks. =
$1000. A couple guys suggested I get the color matched and some spray =
cans loaded and spray it. Well I don't know about that. Lets just say =
I'm not the worlds best painter. Any thoughts
Speaking of Desk KW's, if anyone's interested, I have the RF deck from a =
Desk KW that is for sale. This is the removeable high power amplifier =
deck with front panel, that plugs into the pedestal. Contact me off the =
list if you're interested. =20
