I have been looking at Dip meters. Are there any brands to ovoid, and what
price range is fair for these things. I would prefer a one with vacuum tubes

There are several brands like Millen, Measurements Corp, B&W, EICO,
HeathKit etc. that show up at swapmeets. You can't go wrong with a Millen and
they are pretty common especially the 90651. Mine was $15 at a swapmeet. I also
have a 90662A that is similar but a bit more advanced and cost $50. Millen is
the picture that jumps up for me when somebody says "Grid Dipper". Check out
the Millen webpage for info and pictures: http://www.qsl.net/jms/
I got three, yep 3, Measurements model 59s in a box for $5 at the Santee
swapmeet. One is now complete, one is missing the coils, and one is a parter.
The 59 is a great GDO but a bit bulkier than the Millens so sometimes goes for
cheap.
PRM-10. This one is military, built like a tank, and a good set, $10 at the
TRW swapmeet.
The others here ate B&W, EICO, and Heathkit and they work but the ones
above are the 'real' ones to look for.
