All:
First off, there were three glaring problems with my EFJ Ranger. First off, the twit who sent me the item didn't pack it right and the cabinet was pretty dented up. I ended up spending 30 minutes or so hammering out all the dents and dings. Just as a quick reminder, if you ever have something shipped and the guy insists on charging for his time and effort for packing up the item, "counter insist" on having it done by professionals.

The second was the bandswitch was just about frozen and extremely hard to turn. A quick spray up with WD40 did the trick and things were bandswitching quite nicely. Unfortunately, the bandswitch doesn't stop past 160 meters. A piece of copper colored spring wire fell out during the shake up process. I suspect that was my band switch band stop but unfortunately, I don't know how to reinstall that (despite some futile attempts). I decided to keep that separate for a future reinstall and will have to train myself not to switch past 160 if and when I get this xmtr back on the air.

Finally, the meter window was loose in the case. It took some trick to remove all of the hardware to get access just to the meter. Eventually, I got the meter movement out and it was somewhat difficult trying to push in the window "lock ring" to hold the meter glass in. I had to use dish soap and some careful maneuvering with a nut driver (so as not to punch the glass into shards), I pressed the lock ring into place.

All that remains now is to get a cord (with the fused plug) and put the Ranger on test mode.

Speaking of which, does anyone have a spare fused plug they would like to part with? I'd gladly pay or swap a part for that plug. Let me know and thanks. Cal, N6KYR.
