They are likely mercury wetted. Take advice from the Hallicrafters HA-1
T/O keyer manual on the BAMA site.. It contains a chart telling you how to
make a relay contact protection circuit: one resistor and one capacitor to
be put across the relay contacts, as close as possible. You may not need
anything at all.
(I have that manual here in PDF form and can email it to you 400kb, if you
are unable as I am to get into BAMA at all.)
