Phil:
If you are keying the Ranger that has an already built in time sequence circuit, you shouldn't be keying on the order of very very small mA at the very worst. Project sounds good up to maybe 35-40 wpm depending on the relay. Cal. N6KYR.

Hi.
I'm making a "keying interface" box for the Viking Ranger (original) that I
intend to get on the air by the first of the week (if not earlier). This
unit will contain the CW sidetone generator and 3 key inputs for handkey,
keyer and computer just in case I decide to contest with it . I
intend to actually key the Ranger with a reed relay of which I have a number
of. That way I don't have problems interfacing this stuff to that negative
keying circuit.
Question is this. What is the actual current I'll be keying. All my reed
relays are "pulls" from telephone signaling equipment and I have some nice
ones that are apparently "wet" as they have an arrow and "this side up"
note. Should make nice keying relays but they are pretty small.
73 from the "Beaconeers Lair".
