[Johnson] Thunderbolt on 160?

Fifteen or twenty years ago I put a Thunderbolt on 160.
This was one of the 4-400A units.
All that was needed was to switch in additional capacitance in the form
of a transmitting type mica cap. I don't recall the value of it, or
exactly where connected but that it was pretty obvious where to connect
it in the plate circuit. One end of the cap went to ground. Don't
remember where the bandswitch was set to, but I suppose 80.
I used a small L-Network tuner at the input, which at the time I used
with several linears.
The only part of this that took any thought was how to do the
bandswitching. I got a small knife switch from the electrical supply
store and mounted it on top of something inside the cabinet on the right
side, when looking at the set's front panel. The capacitor was of course
connected to the switch and when I wanted to use it on 160 all I had to
do was grab a plastic rod that poked up thru one of the ventilation
holes. The bottom end of the rod terminated in a right angle that
through a small hole in the handle of the knife switch.
Turned out that was all that was needed. Plate choke and so on all
worked adaquately.
Haven't thought of this project in years. Easier to think of it than
carry it...
Good luck,
-Pete
