Hello Jim:
It doesn't surprise me on the Ranger trade for Collins equipment. Unless it's a rarebird, you won't find too many folks who will trade 75A or S-line stuff for a Ranger (which is still plentiful albiet getting pricey).
On the strips, you should be able to get plastic strips and glue the coil back yourself. The paint can be had from www.nctotalelectronics.com or R and R designs (if they are still around).
Finally, you should install a PTT relay on that Ranger and a keying circuit if you don't have it already installed. That's the time sequenced keying circuit for the Ranger and Viking transmitter series. Tack on that 110 VAC antenna relay and get yourself a HC-6U type xtal plug to power the relay. Those can be had from Glen Zook, K9STH.
FWIW. Cal, N6KYR.

equip, I am going to restore the Ranger.

First things first, are the plastic strips that hold the air coil in
position available, hand makeable, or do I need a whole new air coil?
The old spacers are deteriorated from age and are falling apart.

Second, does anyone sell the paint used on the case, the dark maroon, in
a spray can package?

Are there any modifications I should consider if I am to use this
transmitter for CW and for AM? I will be using a Collins 75S-1 for the
receiver.
