All:
Still in the "design phase" of a 2-4 tube (not including rectifier) AM/CW transmitter. I just need a few questions answered:
1) Choke-cap or cap only filtering for the power supply. Which is better? I do have a 10 Hy 250 mA choke available but I may end up using it on my next question.
2) Heising modulation. May have to go the 6L6 route: 6L6 modulated by a 6L6. Of course, that 10 Hy choke may do the duty of the modulator. Any problems with that?
3) Should I retain the choke for filteration purposes, will there be a problem putting the choke at the C.T. of the power xfmr's plate circuit? I've seen it done with the EFJ Courier. I would like, quite frankly, to get away from putting the choke in the B+ area if at all possible.
4) Where can I get lighted meters? Rare as hen's teeth. Ideally, I'd like to get an amber colored unit to display my current/etc.
Other than that, that's it! Thanks and let me know your thoughts.
Cal, n6KYR.
