[Johnson] Comments on constructing/repairing BA equipment - Radio Shack

Actually, as of about a month ago, Radio Shack has
adopted the corporate policy of not asking for an
address. This was announced as the main article on
the front page of the business section of the Dallas
Morning News. Of course, Tandy is basically a "local"
corporation being based in Fort Worth so it was
"headline news".

It was pointed out in the article that the happiest
people were the employees who no longer had to endure
the comments, etc., of those people who were asked for
the information. The employees didn't want to ask for
this information anymore than the cusotmer wanted to
give it out.

I still have to give my information (actually it is in
the computer and they have to verify it) since what I
do purchase from Radio Shack is tax exempt. However,
I do purchase most of my parts, etc., from Mouser who
are located on the south side of Fort Worth (at least
for this area!). But, with the exception of certain
items (Radio Shack does have some pretty good prices
on mini-boxes - the old aluminum type) and a few other
things, I do occasionally stop by one of the nearby
stores. But, for real parts, etc., forget it!

Or how about when they fight you for an address? I
especially like the ensuing battle.
