Guess what guys.. you can't transmit harmonic crap outside the hambands
( or inside it) just because your neighbors have cable, and don't notice
+ACE-

There are certain technical standards we hams are required to meet...
not the least of which is having a reciever able to at least listen for
2nd and 3rd harmonics..and also broad band crud.. or for any out of band
rf energy... and we must then take steps to prevent it being radiated
illegally.

It isnt hard at all to interfere with other radio services.. such as
Emergency Radio Services, and yada yada, by slip shod operating.

Many have begun thier lives with rice box and similar radios..built by
robots to pretty good engineering standards ( although you cant count on
it)...the old tube stuff is hardly as good in terms of spectral
purity..and requires the operator to step into the breech opened by the
simplicity of tube equipment..and fill it both with some knowledge.. and
something better than an +ACI-ask me if I care+ACI- attitude.

At the very least.. a good general coverage reciever is something every
ham should have in his shack..and use to bench test and monitor his boat
anchor transmitter.
