[Johnson] Johnson T/R switch TVI problems..?

I have used a tr switch for years with  no filter did have to put one in 
back in the early 60's before cable tv as we were over 80 air miles from 
the nearest station. as for a foot switch you can get them from Heil sound 
or find an old sewing maching foot pedal i used those for years.. just take 
out all the wire that is used to control speed and make it open / close
