That is my understanding as well.

There is some pretty good information about the elder
Maxim in a book about Thomas Edison titled
"A Streak of Luck" (?).  I think anyone who enjoys
this reflector would enjoy that book.  (It portrays
Edison as quite a jack-ass too)!
