Subject: [JMS] Should JMS move to Facebook?
Good day JMS members.
I've been toying with the idea of moving our communications over to
Facebook as a private group. We've used the QTH reflector now for
around 18 years and it has proven reliable, but also quite limited in
features, i.e. no pictures or graphic, no attachments etc. So even with
relation to just email it is well below the capability of current
offerings. I have also noticed many groups and clubs have migrated over
to Facebook due to the built-in features that are vital to a clubs
operations, like a calendar with reminders. In addition, the ability to
show & tell new acquisitions, and later offer them for sale when the
ownership joy has worn out, hi. My guess is that a good percentage of
JMS members are already on Facebook as well, so the transition should be
smooth and would integrate into current activities.
Your ideas? I would probably not eliminate the QTH reflector
immediately as it doesn't take much effort to maintain. Eventually I
would have it return a message informing any poster to our Facebook page.
