Joe: Yes, I am a legal resident of Virginia. However, I don't think it will
be that easy. He was born BEFORE the State of Virginia issued Birth
Certificates. If you can provide his middle name, and exact date of birth, I
will make an effort to contact the Department of Vital Records and see what
they have. It may be easier to obtain his death certificate from
Massachusetts? -73- watt

Dear Mr. Watkins...thanks for the reply. According to the obituary, he was 
born in Norfolk, VA. According to Virginia law para. 32.1-271C, you need to 
be a family member or hold Virginia residency identification to obtain a 
certificate. In Virginia you can obtain this the same day in person for 
$12.00.
Same price by mail except it takes 2 to 4 weeks. The address is:
Virginia Department of Health, Office of Vital Records, Post Office Box 
1000, Richmond, VA 23218-1000, 804-662-6200. Physical address: The Shops at 
Wllow Lawn, 1601 Willow Lawn Drive, Richmond, VA  23220. I suppose I could 
write a letter with my pilot's certificate as I.D. and the JMS Society 
letter and just maybe.. and maybe not.  You are a resident of Virginia, no?
