[JMS] Millen Project

Hey Ronnie,

Go to a HVAC place in town and ask them to bend up the modulator chassis
for you. I used a piece of copper and scribed out all the bends. I did
the cut out myself on a band saw and some finishing filling and sanding.
Went to a local HVAC place and asked nicely if they could bend it into
the box shape for the modulator. They said no problem and did for free.
The holes were also done on my drillpress. A good investment are
Greenlee Punches for larger holes like meters or anything 1/2" and up.
After painting it black on the outside you'd never know it wasn't the
original Millen chassis cover for the modulator.

A good shop is always a valuable asset to this type of work. A nice
drill press and a band saw with a metal cutting blade sure make life
easy. Used equipment or the discount China stuff do a good job. Those
lucky few have found nice commercial brakes along the way. Right now I
don't think I could squeeze another piece of shop equipment into the
basement as I have some woodworking tools as well. I'll continue to
bother the HVAC guys, hi.

I was lucky in the past as we had a second-hand industrial supply house
near where I work. I could get all kinds of scrap metal sold by the
pound. I built a long boom (28 foot) 2 meter yagi from aluminum I got
there. They closed up shop about three years ago. Boy do I miss that
place! I badly need to find another local source.

sure wish I could help you out Mike, but I don't have those coils. My
project is held up too. I can't seem to find a Millen HV supply for my
90801 no matter where I look. Guess I'll have to homebrew one up. Also
the HV sense circuit I built up is not working correctly so I guess I
could bypass that.

I have ruined 2 panels now trying to build a front panel for my
modulator. I bought my modulator directly from Millen. All brand new
except it did not have the meter or the panel. I have procured a meter (
thanks, you know who you are! ) but I'm about to dispair ruining another
panel trying to get one right. Then after I do that, if I ever do, I
have to construct the covers for the modulator. I'm not good at all at
sheet metal work, so I may just have to trash this modulator project and
sell off what I have, in hopes that someday I can buy a complete
modulator. I missed one last year on ebay. I got outbid by someone out
west who has more money than me LOL..

anyway, it will all come together sooner or later!!

73's and good luck and God bless
