Thanks for the concern Don.
Yes I am fine. We didn't get nary a drop of rain nor any wind out of it up
here in Shreveport.
ALL of the larger parking lots up here are full of refugess in cars, trucks,
vans and RV's. ALL of our shelters up here are full. Traffic is hell.
I just heard from a friend of mine in the Guard down in NO and he says
several streets in the eastern part of NO are totally clogged with floaters,
which are starting to reek pretty bad. Worst, the Gators and Turtles are
starting in on them! They are not going to start trying to recover bodies
until they have the entire city evacuated which could be early next week.
The entire city is pretty much wiped out. And they have not even begun to
look into the small communities in the outlying areas.
Our entire paging system ( that is what I do ) is off the air across south
louisiana, because our link transmitters were in New Orleans. I'm quite sure
that sometimes in the near future, I will be headed down there.
Gasoline is already short up here. I have told my wife and daughter to stop
and top off tanks every single day. You can't buy bottled water here as the
Red Cross has pretty much got first crack at it.
I'm a Scout Master and my troop is gathering blankets, towels, washclothes,
and personal items to take to the big shelter at LSU-Shreveport this comiong
saturday.
This is a horrible blow to our state. But then again, our brothers and
sisters in Mississippi and Alabama got it pretty damned bad too.
I have not been able to get in touch with K5QLH who is one of my AM buddies.
He actually lives outside of Baton Rouge, so most likely he is just out of
power, as they did not get a lot of water there.
They are saying the death toll could realistically reach 5,000 or higher.
I'll keep y'all posted
the Lambda is working GREAT
freind Joe, ACU beat me out of that little 90800 on ebay LOL
73's y'all
red beans and ricely to ya from Louisiana
Ronnie
