Hi! I am just back from searching for the last few hours looking for our downed High altitude balloon. Based on the APRS signal our balloon (KD9EPE-5) was headed for just west of Swanville, IN (http://tracker.habhub.org/#!mt=roadmap&mz=13&qm=1_day&mc=38.68854,-85.58064&f=KD9EPE-5). However, for some reason the last signal from our main radio was given at just over 4,000 feet and we were not able to locate it. I was trying to use an SDR+GQRX and DL-FLDIGI to get a signal from the ground, but we could not get one.
I’m writing to see if anyone might be able to see if they can get a signal. Beyond APRS, the device should be broadcasting a position on a signal around 434.485. I was getting a strong signal in the area, but because I’m a novice I wasn’t able to get it to decode (if it was the right signal) to actually give a position. If anyone can give assistance in locating or even retrieving this it would be supremely helpful.
Thank you so much!
