I have one. They are FCCF Type Accepted although you will read posts on various boards which say they are not, if you search the FCC database you'll find the acceptance info there.
I have found mine to be pretty durable, good audio reports, etc.
If you get the first generation like mine, it does NOT have DTMF capability, the latest model DOES.
Also, it is not a "dual band" radio as we usually think of it. It displays both bands (V-U, U-V, U-U. V-V) "vfo" A is your x-mitt/receive. it MONITORS the second "vfo" and if a signal is received it will lock onto that signal. Example: A is 145.908 and B is 445.897 your are talking on 148.908 if it receives a signal on 445.897 it will automaticaly change to that and if you don;t know it, you'll key up on that frequency. You can make it a single bander via the menu to work around that. I picked up mine for satellite work and it is very good for that. It has a "reverse sma" antenna jack so you'll need an adapter for it if you use bnc antennas.
