We had great weather, great company and plenty of excellent food.
A new testing device was introduced and it worked great. A dummy load was incorporated into the test jig with a two position ant switch. The xmtr power was set to 80 watts using the power from each vehicle into the dummy load. Then the power was switched to the antenna. At that point the operator tuned until he had the appropriate match that suited him and a reading was taken. This removed the possibility of SWR affecting the deflection of the wattmeter. We believe that this has taken the last small variable out of our testing program.
A reporter from The Herald Bulletin was in attendance and wrote a very nice article that appeared in his column of June 12th. The following is a link to the article:
Hammin' it up at antenna shoot-out
If u were unable to attend this get together, attempt to make the one in the fall. The date will be announced and published on the 3.875 website: www.KJ9T.com.
The results of this "Shootout" will be published there within the next week.
There may be some duplication in this e mail as I combined a couple of mailing lists.
