Hello Don, Shari, and Jim...
The following two items just came over the ARRL Officers/Directors
Reflector and will very quickly spread though our other reflectors=20
and be posted on the ARRL Web Site.
United Technologies Corp (UTC) just announced a $150,000 three year
national grant for all three levels of our ARECC training. Now there
will be fee reimbursement for all three levels. I regard this as
another big feather in our ARRL hat that represents the growing public
perception of the value of Amateur Radio Emergency Coomunications
when everything else has become useless.
To further our growing achievements in this area, take a look at the=20
nice story about Amateur Radio's role in the recovery of space shuttle
Columbia debris now running on MSNBC.=20
http://www.msnbc.com/news/869906.asp
The writer, Gary Krakow, W2GSK, based the story on a PR Newswire=20
release that ARRL PR Specialist Jennifer Hagy sent last Friday and=20
other sources.
Now if we can get our member recruitment and retention programs up and
running (see ARRL board meeting write-up in March QST) within the next=20
12 months, I sense a coming rennaisance for Amateur Radio in the U.S.
