SUBJECT: LEE DUNN / WB9QPA HEALTH & WELFARE UPDATE
Hello Don,
As promised, I visited Lee yesterday afternoon. He was in a
fairly good mood considering his circumstances. He had been
walking under the assistance of a therapist at the care facility.
Lee said the exercise was not too painful or as Lee stated it "a
n acceptable level of pain." However, he admitted it took a lot
out of him and he fell asleep in his wheel chair upon return to
his room.
In direct conversation with Lee, he does not seem to have a well
defined description of what has been done by medical folks for
his hip injury. Other sources have said his right hip was broken
in a fall at his home. He had previously told me, he was
attempting to remove his coat after he entered his home. He had
released his grip on his walker and just slowly tipped over
failing to recover on his way to the floor.
Most of his friends are aware of the earlier fall off a ladder
while attempting repair of his garage roof. In that accident, he
landed on his heels and absorbed the shock on the rest of his
body. He has not fully recovered from that accident although
he was getting around (even driving his car) by wearing
specially fitted "boots" for support of his heels.
Lee has been made aware of all the concern expressed by his many
Ham friends. He has had many local Hams stopping by for visits
and he has enjoyed them. Lee's wife Jean is also at the same
facility and Lee can spend time with her. He told me she enjoys
playing Bingo when she feels up to it. Fortunately, Lee has not
had much idle time and when he has some, he usually falls asleep
from exhaustion. However, he does enjoy reading and most
certainly would welcome hearing from Ham friends in all the m
any nets in which he has participated.
His address is Lee Dunn, Rm. 110
