Jim,I often get the paper logs from some of our Club's casual operators and convert them to electronic logs for them. I appreciate 30 days to get the logs, convert them, and get them sent in.Sorry I missed the ILQP this year but the U.S. Amateur Radio Direction Finding championships were that weekend in North Carolina. I was driving home Sunday, wishing I still had a mobile set up.Don, W9EBK

Hey troops,
I'm curious about something: More and more contests are dropping the log
submission deadlines from the usual 30 days down to ....a lot less in some
cases. I'd like an opinion (please check one or more):
1) For a QSO party, 30 days is fine. Lots of participants are casual, and
it may take them 30 days to figure out how to submit a log. Plus that gives
the sponsors time to bug the ones that haven't sent a log yet.
2) In the interest of getting quicker results, 10-14 days is appropriate for
a log submission deadline.
3) When the contest is over, it's over. I can create a Cabrillo file in 5
minutes and e-mail it while I'm thinking about it. 3-7 days is plenty for a
deadline.
Other random thoughts? Thanks, 73, Jim N9JF
