Another item to consider is that there are EU stations who will work you on
40 meter SSB but not if you stay above 7200!!  If your license allows you
below there, they will probably find you.

SSB usually occupies the lower part of the General class part of the phone
band but extends both up and down the band as conditions and activity
warrants.

CW is usually from .025 to .060 from the bottom of the band.
