Best to everyone for ILQP 2016!
I'll probably operate QRP from home here in Michigan. Supposed to be
raining much of the day here.
But, if the weather forecast is wrong (as it sometimes is) I'll take the
KX2 down to the North Country National Scenic Trail (TR04) and combine
ILQP with National Parks on the Air.
I remember with fondness (?) almost freezing the first time I operated
ILQP from Vermillion and 3 other counties. Temperature was in the 40's
with high wind, and I had brought only a dining canopy. Had to rig up a
tarp on three sides to get "somewhat" of a shelter. That was a year with
N9FN/K9FN couldn't make it.
The next year I tried a different 4 county line near Rockford, IL, but
found a "tennis ball eating tree" so I couldn't get my antenna up more
than about 20 feet, and a sloppy generator which didn't allow me to run
more than 30 watts or so. But the weather was much, much nicer, and I
was surrounded by trees on 3 sides, so operating was much easier.
I sorta wish I could make it back to some 3 or 4 county corner, but.....
Life is good, have a great QSO Party! Hope to work many of you.
