[ILQSO] KJ9C a no-show this year

Dave, you are right, mobile ops are getting fewer and I fully understand
why. Our mobile ops have to be commended, without them things would be quite
different and a lot less fun. Mel have done this for us for years now and
most of it playing clean-up, hitting open counties others did not cover.
Driving, navigating, operating and logging by yourself for 8 hours is a
tough dangerous and mind numbing job. Mel is one of the few mobiles in ILQP
that still does it all himself. I have tried the mobile route and even with
someone else driving it is tough.

It is quite an investment of money, time and possibly sanity to put out the
effort most of our mobiles have in the past.

That said, I am sure anyone that wants to take Mel's place would get a lot
of help from Mel, as well as a few others.

As a very happily married family man, I fully understand, respect, and
appreciate that Mel will need to be elsewhere this year... but his mobile
efforts have churned out so very many QSO's in the past, I know he will be
missed. Of course, this means that other mobiles may be in even greater
demand.

Safe travels to you, Mel... and best of luck to all in ILQP.

de Dave, K9FN (cw op with N9FN)

sending CW and tending the logging computer, I won't be able to make ILQP
2010. My niece is getting married in Louisiana that weekend. Since I went
to my other niece's wedding in Seattle, I'd better be in Baton Rouge if I
know what's good for me.
