I willingly admit to managing a QSO Party that uses QSO numbers, but also
admit that Jim makes a reasonable point. I will also give ILQP some heat for
 using meaningless 5NN exchanges.

For a group starting out, I would suggest the exchange of name and QTH.
Minnesota does this, as do the North American QSO Parties. It makes for a
nice natural exchange, such that a non contester could make a contest qso
without even realizing it.

Another piece of advice: get on for the Michigan QSO Party this Saturday,
April 18. It runs from 11am to 11 pm CDT. Exchange is QSO number and
QTH. Full info is at _www.miqp.org_ (http://www.miqp.org)

CU there... I'll be mobiling around the northeast part of the lower
peninsula.

May I suggest the exchange NOT include QSO numbers? I know that ILQP
gets  plenty of heat for the "meaningless 5NN" portion of the exchange;
however, the QSO number requirement is one reason I dislike the MOQP
(other than the fact that there is not much activity). Driving,
navigating, operating and logging is difficult enough without logging
QSO  numbers!!!!
