Steve,
Go to http://k9dur.info. Click on "Photo Album" and then click on "Portable
Operations". This will take you to a page with pictures from our setup in
Cave-In-Rock State Park (Hardin County) last year for the 2007 ILQP.
Clicking on a picture will display a full-size image.
Camper is a hard-sided pop-up trailer called an A-Liner. It has R6
insulation & a 16,000 BTU furnace, so we will NOT be cold. Last year, we
set up outdoors. Plan on doing the same this year.
1st picture shows details of the antenna system if you click on it &
download the full-size image. It consists of pairs of HamStick-style mobile
whip antennas mounted in a dipole configuration on a 21-foot push up mast.
With the push-up mast & quick-disconnects on the mobile whips, changing
bands take only a minute or so. I have whips for all bands 75m-6m except
for 30m. Mounted above the whips is a 2m/70cm J-Pole antenna. Not the
greatest portable antenna setup, but it is quick & easy and works quite
well. When you get as old as I am, the quick & easy part counts for a lot.
The rig is a Yaesu FT-847 with an LDG AT-100Pro automatic antenna tuner. I
use my HP laptop with N1MM Logger for logging & rig control.
