Camping out sounds like a lot of fun. Maybe a little chilly. Will you be in a tent or a hardside camper?

Will you be operating indoors or outdoors at the park? I'm curious what you'll use for an antenna.

Sounds like fun - good luck in ILQP!

Danny,

Amen! I have no illusions of ever being able to bring home a plaque.
However, I will be working towards one of the new single county portable
certificates this year. Let's face it, a one or two county operation will
probably never be able to compete with portables set up on a three or four
county corner. I am not a CW operator which makes it difficult to compete
with the dual mode operations. Bottom line: Wife & I love to camp, and the
QSO parties are a great excuse to go camping & operate on the radio in one
fell swoop.

Someone expressed the thought that PSK31, RTTY, or other digital mode would
be a way to compete with the stations running CW. The 2 problems with that
idea are QSO rate & number of stations available to work. Yes, it is a way
to get some 2-point QSO's, but not at the same level as the CW ops.

Anyway, it is time to go finish loading the camper & head for Lincoln Trail
State Park. See you all on Sunday.

73, Ray, K9DUR
