Don't feel too bad, I've been a member of that group for months and still get the same spam requesting me to join that you do.  I joined simply out of curiosity, and to date haven't spent a lot of time there but peek in from time to time.  Apparently that spam is working as they now have over 1850 members and grew by 83 new members in the last couple of weeks. How do you check your email online?  If using IE Explorer just mark it as SPAM and it'll go straight to the Spam folder so you won't have to bother with it.  I believe many of the other Email clients both stand-alone and online sites offer Spam Filtering as well now.
