I want to send a special thanks to all of the stations
who went mobile for the 2007 ILQP. Don't know how
much gas costs in Illinois, but here in OK, which is
supposed to be an oil state, it is $2.73 a gallon, so
mobiling can't be cheap. Having done a couple of
mobile runs for the ILQP in 1999 and 2000, I know how
much fun it can be, but also how much planning is
required.
You guys keep the contest interesting. After working
all of the fixed stations on a band, it is the mobiles
that keeps me hunting around, just waiting for them to
change counties. I didn't think that Pete, NN9K was
ever going to get out of Sangamon, HI HI. This years
mobiles had some great signals considering the
compromised antennas you have to use, and I missed
hearing W1NN/M on for the contest.
Here are the mobiles I worked, with the number of
counties I got each one from:
NN9K-12
NY4N-9
W9MSE-8
N9JF-7
KJ9C-5
W9HB-5
N9BIL-5
AJ9C-4
W9TY-4
W9DY-2
K9NSS-1
K9IUA-1 QRP mobile?? Now that is extreme
I am sorry if I missed anyone else who worked me as a
mobile. The logging software I was using (GENLOG by
W3KM) required me to log anyone in more than one
county as a mobile so I could enter several mults from
them. I think all of the other stations I listed as
/m were on county lines. The software, for being
called GENLOG, is really a contest logging program
that wasn't too bad to use. It is windows based, and
free, so at least it is worth the price of admission.
A special thanks to those who traveled from another
state to run Illinois counties for the contest, now
that is dedication!
