Don, I think you have it nailed. Have a good time, eat a lot of hot
dogs, make contacts on 80 the last two hours.....

Well, we gave it a try from Lake Sangchris. 40 meters was so-so. All we
worked on 20 meters was Europe, Alaska, Montana, Maine, etc. No
Illinois at all on 20 meters. Only one contact on 2 meters. I came home
and worked about 60 contacts on 80 meters in 45 minutes. Unless there
is an outburst of sunspots I think I already have next year's strategy
worked out. Watch football for the first 6 hours of the contest. Then
at sunset fire up the rig on 80 and knock out a few hundred contacts in
the last 2 hours. In spite of lack of propagation and QSOs we had about
15 Club members show up at Lake Sangchris. The pot of chili that KC9GQR
cooked on the campfire was great. As were the hot dogs, brats, and all
the other food people brought. Look for pictures on the svrc, org
website in the next week or so.
Don, W9EBK
