Don, I am glad you guys had a good time in spite of the poor propagation. It
was really bad where I was, in state guys were at best S5 and CQing in my
face.

After beating my gums on 40 and 20 (even tried CQing on 15) with very
limited success, I thought it can't be any worse to try 75. At about 2:30 I
was working stations on Illinois with well over S9 signals and convinced a
couple I worked later on 40 to try 75 and we were off. I have never made
more than a couple of phone QSO's on 75 during the ILQP before today, and I
worked 80% of may contacts on 75 meters.. I kept bouncing back to 40 and 20
but never could get anything going, so back to 75 I went. I always thought
75 was a total waste if time but this year I even managed to work a few SSB
QSO's on the way home out of the mobile.
