[ILQSO] RE:2 Meter Simplex Frequency

Just a comment about the 146.55 Mhz 2 Meter Simplex frequency that's been mentioned in previous newsletters.  This is also THE main simplex frequency used for ARES operations on a national level as well as in the State of Illinois.  Our group used it during this last fall's statewide earthquake drill to test our ability to communicate county-wide via simplex operations.  It's also the recognized national calling frequency for storm spotters during severe weather that may not be familiar with the local repeater or skywarn frequencies used while traveling through areas they are unfamiliar with.  

If we use this frequency we should stay alert in case it's already in use, or if someone NEEDS it to conduct emergency communications in case some emergency or disaster just happens to pop up.  Just my 2 cents worth.
