The addition of 25 or so 1 x 1 calls, and ability to spell OKLAHOMA with
their suffixes, brought out quite a few more operators for the OKQP.
I'm a big fan of trying to get "newbies" into contesting - who knows,
maybe some will get "hooked." The 1 x 1's who parked at three or four
county intersections REALLY had pileups. It was sometimes hard to get
through when you're a pipsqueak like me, with a temporary, low, wire
antenna and several folks are calling at once, and they keep piling on.

How about Mississippi? Massachusetts? There wouldn't be enough 1 x 1's
with "s" suffixes to do that.

Actually, I've been operation in the Ohio QSO Party for years. I'm
thinking that Ohio (and other states with very short names) might find
some town or event which is celebrating a 50, 75, 100, 150, 200 year
anniversary, and spell that. (Not much happened before 200 years ago,
because Ohio became a state in 1803. If all else fails, one could spell
the name of a major city, Columbus, Ohio for example, or Cincinnati,
Cleveland, Toledo?

In Michigan we're offering a certificate for folks who spell MACKINAC -
in honor of the 50th anniversary of opening the Mackinac Bridge. Since
we didn't think of it in time to garner support for enough 1 x 1 calls,
we're allowing folks to spell Mackinac with the first letter of any
suffix of Michigan sections.
