Well, I might just go down there on a Friday, so I have all day Saturday
to scout the area. If both the POPE/JOHN/SALI/WMSN and the
HAMI/WHTE/SALI/GALL wouldn't work out, I'm sure I could find a 3 county
corner in the vicinity. The ham population seems to be low in Hamilton
County - because there are no ARRL affiliated clubs within 20 miles of
the county seat. I haven't researched the other counties yet, I just
got back to this effort.

But, if there are any hams in either of the areas on this reflector, I'd
like to know the lay of the land.

Right now I'm working a a 40/80 metre w8jk beam antenna which I'd point
with the major lobes north/south to maximize the probability of working
other Illinois stations. I had a similar 40/20 metre beam for field day
which I used very successfully for field day several years in a row. I
had it rigged so I could get it up 50' all by myself. I'm a bit leery
of an 80 metre version, but I can do it, an extra 4 to 5 dBd would help.....
