Subject: [ILQSO] Re: ILQSO Digest, Vol 33, Issue 2
Hal makes a point. I have always operated mobile alone and I prefer it that
way. That way, if ANYTHING goes wrong, I can't blame somebody else, and it's
only my bladder that determines when we stop.
As in previous years, last year I waited to see what counties were taken,
and I took the counties that nobody else wanted. I spent a couple days
planning a route to optimize my NON-driving timeM(Parked on county lines).
And I won the mobile class even though I had the "dog" counties.
Now, ILQP will be like OHQP and I will have to drive a lot more to get more
QSO's ..... all QSOs made while driving. At least in Indiana we still permit
two-county mobile operation.
However, the rules are the rules..... so I plan to give it a try. Since all
the other mobiles will also have to drive more to up their scores, I expect
that there may not be a list of leftover counties for me to take this year.
With gas at 3 bucks a gallon, I wouldn't mind staying in Indiana if all the
counties are taken.....

The ILQP mobile category has now lost its distinctiveness and has become
just another road race very unfriendly to single ops.
